Today, 21st Century Technologies Limited, a leading computing firm in Nigeria, announced its partnership with Nexusguard, the San Francisco & Asia based DDoS mitigation company, to build its DDoS scrubbing center in Nigeria. The scrubbing center will offer DDoS protection to businesses and governments in Nigeria, and across the African continent.
The scrubbing center will act as a centralized data cleaning station in which traffic is filtered and malicious traffic is removed, reducing the threat posed by DDoS attacks. Baselining of normal traffic helps generate a threat profile and reduce collateral damage through BGP or DNS re-routing. The scrubbing center will be part of a larger new build for 21st Century Technologies – who want to create the “most advanced global digital security point of presence in Nigeria” through its Tier 4 data center.
21st Century Technologies was founded in Lagos, Nigeria in 1997 and is one of the critical builders of digital infrastructure within the country, working with business and government to provide leading, innovative technology solutions.
Nexusguard has been in operation since 2008 and is a leading cloud-based DDoS solution. The company has offices in San Francisco, Hong Kong and Singapore.
“We opted to partner with Nexusguard because of their global reach and robustness of their platform. They have helped many companies and governments globally defend against cyberattack. Nexusguard is consistently recognised by analysts such as Gartner and Forrester as a market leader,” said Wale Ajisebutu, CEO of 21st Century Technologies. “Customers choose to take advantage of our new compelling cybersecurity solution will surely capture enormous opportunities for unlimited growth.”
21st Century Technologies added that pairing its local capacity with Nexusguard’s global scrubbing cloud will allow them to provide a network, which detects and protects against threats on a local and international level.
Also, Nexusguard CEO, Andy Ng, said: “Communications service providers (CSP) have a new opportunity to help create a global DDoS defence network to protect internet users. Our partnership with 21st Century Technologies in Nigeria, as with other Telco 5.0 providers around the globe, are critical to not only helping enterprises fortify themselves against future attacks but also to telcos transforming their business.”
As DDoS risks mount worldwide, there is increasing appetite from service providers to provide robust security offerings in addition to bandwidth and susbscriptions. Telco 5.0 is the name of that transformation, which demands the methodology and technologies to shift platforms, people and processes to provide optimal security.
